Damn time moves fast - I just realized it is only next week that JW is playing at Mulcahey's here on LI - I just called and tix are a whopping $16.00 - needless to say I will be taking a drive to pick up some tix - any of you LI forumites would be well advised to splurge 16 big ones for this show.

OK back to the GD!

What's his best show on Wolfgang's Vault? I've never heard him before and would like to start off with a good one.

a quick look shows no versions of highway 61 on wolfgang's and that the shows for the most part are partial performances...

you might want to try this 76 show at winterland, though it is only three songs and 15-minutes in length but it does have jumpin' jack flash:

and this 79 show is longest:

here is some recent johnny as well:

that should be a good place to start...and you might want to go to youtube and check-out highway 61 and some other tunes as well...sorry, I would pull some links but it is painful to go to that site sans a sound card...

ENJOY!!!

Lazyness is rough - I skipped a bunch of JW shows in late '80's early '90's then saw him again in 97' and the show was smokin' and said I'd always go to see him if he was in the neighborhood!!

P,S. here is a clip from recently

Johnny Winter is a living treasure. He isn't what he used to be but who is? I remember when I was 15-16 and just starting to discover FM music and I bought Johnny Winter And Live just because of the cover. When I heard he and Rick Derringer trading riffs in Meantown Blues I was blown away.
